May 2011

In May 2011 Ethan continued his Birthday celebrations with a bowling party. It was great fun and after a few practice goes before hand it sure was good to have a few good friends looking just as silly as him in those bowling shoes...

-----------

After bowling of course there was more cake but it was not chocolate this time. The Vanilla ice cream cake was delicious and a nice break from last months chocolate overload!
During the month Ethan's training (the one jog with Daddy...) paid off for him. Ethan ran the entire 4km's this year in the Mothers Day classic, what a star. The day started off early with a cold dark ride to the race, eating toast and honey along the way. He's seen his Mummy do this often enough, he knows the routine.
The race started and with only a quick water stop en-route...
Number 2589 (aka Ethan Quartly) finished in 36minutes and 4 seconds - you can even click here to see his official results. Ethan came 274th in his category (under 15's), pretty good for a 5 year old, wait till he's 14, he's gonna smash this group :-)
And of course the medal, Ethan wore it proudly.
Feeling pumped from the first race, Ethan signed himself up for a 2nd race this month, the Manly Fun Run. One training session with Daddy AND the Mother's day classic under his belt, Ethan ruled the Manly Fun run running a 23minute PB (personal best - for the non runners out there)! Ethan ran 4.62km's in 36minutes and 35seconds, last year it took him 59minutes and 8seconds, Wow!!! These race results are here and you will find that Ethan was 78th in his under 15 category, never mind the under 15's, Ethan was passing adults out there surely he would have been 1st if there was 5 year old category.
He didn't even stop along the way for water this time, just had a well deserved glass of Gatorade at the finish. Way to go Ethan, imagine what he could do with some real training :-)
It wasn't all hard work, the following weekend Ethan had an easy lunch with his Mum and Dad at Cottage Point Inn restaurant. Some people arrived for there lunch in a Sea plane, Ethan is hoping next time he goes he can fly there as well (pleeeease Daddy???).
Last but not least, Ethan caught up with his old day care friend Luke. Luke has started school now so Ethan has not seen him in a while, we were all invited round to his new home. Little did we know, there was work to be done, 4 hours it took to put this track together THEN it was time to leave so Luke and his Dad had all the fun playing with it... Ethan will have to invite himself back again soon before the track gets put away.
