Twelfth Month

In Ethan's Twelfth Month, he turned one, can you believe it!!! He is now weighing 10.84 kg, has 8 teeth and has taken a few step on his own but we cannot say with confidence he is 'walking' just yet. For his Birthday he got a new 'trike' as shown in the picture above, he also tasted his first 'sugar' in his Birthday cake, what he managed to get in his mouth anyhow (below)...

Yes, it was Mummy's Birthday as well so we have started a annual photo, this being our first. This was a special one, Ethan's first Birthday and our combined age being 40!

It was a very busy month, trying to fit all that we could into the last month of Yvonne's visit. We did another camping trip, this time 3 nights in the NSW Tablelands. Starting off outside Lithgow in Newnes, then on to the Goulbourn river campground, an afternoon in the Mudgee vineyards, and our last night in Historic Hill End before a quick stop off in the Blue Mountains on our way back home. Ethan loved every moment of it, slept well in the car as we travelled between locations and played well once we arrived. We are now at the end of our Autumn so it is cooling off, photo below of him in the Blue Mountains dressed in his winter gear.

Also a photo with Mum and Dad in Newnes just before setting off down the Glow Worm Tunnel track.

Last but not least, we spent the weekend before Ethan's Birthday in the Northern Territory. We flew into Darwin but in fact we only spent the first and last nights in town. In between we hired a Winnebago and traveled throughout the World Heritage Kakadu National park. We camped in exotic sounding places such as Jabiru and Cooinda. We hiked in Ubirr and Nourlangie (Dad forcing us to check out the twenty thousand year old 'Aboriginal rock art' e.g. stickmen), cruised along side jumping crocodiles on the Adelaide River and did a dawn wetland cruise along the Yellow River. Unfortunately Ethan was a little young but Mum and Dad still managed a scenic flight over Arnhem Plateau passing Twin and Jim Jim falls while Yvonne entertained Ethan at the airport. It might all sound like Latin to anyone who doesn't know the area but you have to admit, pretty impressive travelogue for a one year old!

During our final night spent back in Darwin we managed to catch the famous sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Now settled back in Sydney we are trying to get back into our daily routine. Mum had the week off work, enjoying these last days before she starts back to work full time, Dad goes back full time and Ethan start Day Care on May 7th. This will probably be harder on Mum and Dad than on Ethan, he will most likely enjoy playing with his new friends all day long... Mum and Dad are not looking forward to full time work again :-(

The wonderful news is that Auntie Yvonne cannot bare to leave her nephew so has extended her stay for another 9 months. OK, maybe she just likes Australia but Ethan thinks it is just for him so don't tell him differently.
