January 2012

In January 2012 Ethan enjoyed the last of his summer holidays spending time with Daddy and Mummy, each taking some time off work (not the same time... getting ready for these long school breaks!) to hang out in Manly with Ethan. Ethan did loose something this month, can you tell what it is?
===================================================================
Swimming lessons continued with an 'intense' week of lessons every day and a guest lesson visit by Jade. You may remember Jade from Ethan's last visit to Melbourne, Jade and her parents (Christie & Eiko) have moved to Sydney. It took them a little while but realised in the end Sydney is far superior to Melbourne, welcome to Sydney guys :-)

Lucky Ethan had a 3 day break (from Mummy & Daddy!) with the Jorgensen family to Myall's away farm. He got to hang out with his best buddy Tristan, Tristan's sister Bianca and Bianca's friend Olivia. He also got to visit Scrappy's (Ethan's Guinea Pig) sister, 'Bad hair day'. So much fun, the longest Ethan has been away from Mummy and Daddy and he didn't even miss them (much).

Ethan has been busy on EBay clearing out some older toys to make room for the new ones Santa brought... The photos posted on EBay didn't actually include him, he's not for sale, he's just helping to set up the shots. All of the money made has gone into Ethan's piggy bank, he is saving up, not sure yet just what for, but he is saving.

Ethan continues to show what a wonderful Dad he is, taking great care of his children/pets/Guinea Pigs. They now have leads so that he can take them out for a walk but their little legs haven't taken them past the back garden just yet.
Ethan did find out from Jade that GP's can swim, did you know that? He googled it, it is true, so Scrappy & Yoda had there first paddle. Not as good as Ethan of course but yes, they can swim, who would have guessed it?

More activities to fill the holidays, Ethan had a go at Skateboarding and had his first lesson.

It was pretty cool, kinda scary, action shot below... Ethan says he won't be doing it again... the Skateboard is in the garage, I am sure it will be back, when Ethan gets a little bigger (& braver).

Tristan did the lesson with Ethan, of course that part of the lesson was good, just hanging out and acting cool in the 'freestyle' time (where no one made you try scary tricks) :-)

Of course there was Australia day, January 26th, Ethan certainly made the most of the day being a True Blue Aussie boy. He started by doing his first ocean swim with Mummy and Daddy. Ethan swam from Manly (Bower St) to Shelly beach (400m) and back (800m total) with the Bold & Beautiful swim squads, wow! With only a little help from a kick board, a short ride on a surf board and tiny trip on Daddy's back, we do believe Ethan is the youngest child to ever swim with the squads. Double WOW, well done Ethan!!

After the swim, of course Ethan had to celebrate with his pets but wait? They seem to have multiplied, did anyone notice??? Oh yes, Ethan now has 4 GP's... Zoe and Feline (on Ethan's lap) have come for a stay. Zoe and Feline just moved from Melbourne with Jade but don't have a home yet so are staying with Ethan. As you might have guessed from their names, these are GIRL GP's so it is a little complicated at feeding/playing time making sure that they are kept separate from the BOYS (they have a separate house). But they are lovely pets and Ethan is enjoying their visit.More Australia day celebrations, Ethan spent the afternoon down at the Wharf (Hugo's) eating Ethan's favorite Aussie meal, Pizza! (not REALLY very Aussie but still Ethan's favorite at the moment and he is Australian so it must be Aussie!).Well last but not least, the end of the month came, the end of the summer holidays came and Ethan started BIG school. He was very big and brave, waving bye, bye.

Queueing up with the rest of the kids and his teacher Miss Grant, then walking off into the school... a few days in and Ethan already knew the all the tricks. Miss Grant told Mummy that Ethan was "So ready for school". When Mummy asked Ethan why he thought she had said this he said "it's easy, I was tired so I listened to her, that's all you have to do, listen". Such quick learner :-)
