Fifty Sixth Month

In Ethan's Fifty Sixth Month he celebrated his fifth Christmas and the end of another calendar year. Ethan no longer has any fear of Santa, met up with him a few times for photos, sent a letter letting Santa know just want he wanted and waited (not so patiently...) for December 25th.
======================

During the month Ethan went to Manly Carols in the park and bumped into a few good friend from school, even convinced a few of them to pose for a blog photo.
Mummy's friend from work Noriko was there as well to hear Ethan singing along.

And a petting zoo that included a Santa hat wearing goat???Mummy's work once again took all of the families to Luna park, something Ethan looks forward to every year. He is now a yellow person as you can see and that means he can go on ALL the rides.

As always though, he worked his way into the amusement park with an easy ride on the Ferris wheel and enjoyed those amazing views of Sydney Harbour.

But then it was time for a REAL ride and he went for his first ride on the WILD MOUSE! He liked it he said... but does not want to go again...

So next he humoured some of the kids from Mummy's work and joined them on the kiddy cars.

No escaping Daddy now that he is big enough so on to the Flyer Swing ride. Again, he SAYS he enjoyed, but does not want to go again :-).

Hmmmm... where next????

How could we resist the giant slide! Mummy was a bit slow on the camera and only caught them at the bottom of the ride but both boys look like they enjoyed this one. Another great annual trip to Luna park!
Ethan's friendly neighbours had their annual Chrissy party with Dan & Cris hosting this year. Lots of yummy food and it did not bother Ethan one bit to be the only kid at dinner, all the attention was his until he fell asleep on the couch at 9 (not a party animal our Ethan).

With Ethan's weekly swimming lessons stopped for the summer holidays, Ethan has hooked up with his good friend Tristan and done an 'intensive' swim week with lessons every day during the week before Christmas. Daddy took Ethan and Mummy was just amazed at how much Ethan has improved in that one week, Ethan is now swimming heads down with big arms the full length of the pool. What a difference one week can make.

Ethan's not a competitive boy but look who's in front :-)

And diving through hoops, what a swim star.

All of that stuff out of the way FINALLY it is Christmas eve and Ethan is all set, he HAS been a good boy, he HAS left out a sausage and tomato sauce as requested in the letter he got back from Santa (aka Australia post???). Now he just needs to somehow fall asleep...

He manages to close his eyes and at 5:30 (!!!) the next morning he finds that he was a good enough boy and Santa has been. Ethan has a new pedal bike, yippeee! Ethan also has so many other new toys he never wants to leave the house again, just stay home and play, play, play.
But Christmas day was a beaut so Mum & Dad did convince Ethan to put on the new cosie he got from Santa and head out to the beach. Still a little strange for Mum & Dad to spend Christmas day on the beach but the way Ethan will always know it.

Boxing day was a little cloudy but still balmy and a good way to start the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, look close and you will see them leaving the harbor behind Ethan.

A little different but with such a busy schedule before Christmas, Ethan never got to the local Christmas light display on Edwin Street before Christmas but he made it a few days later and it was just as good, even better, with smaller crowds. Unfortunately Ethan missed out on the annual trip do David Jones window display in the city on Christmas day but the weather was just too nice, who wants to travel into the city when you can play on the beach...
And ride your new bike!Between Christmas & New Years, Daddy had some special holiday time with Ethan being off school and they did lots of day trips. Cool dudes in their matching shades and t-shirts, caught the ferry over to Darling Harbor.

Ethan & Daddy went to the Sydney Wildlife park for their first visit, stop now if your an arachnophobe, we warned you...

With Leggo now on the loose at Darling Harbor, Ethan was in his element.
Life size Leggo kangaroos, people.

no bull...
It was Leggo heaven!

With a stop for Ethan's new favorite lunch, sushi rolls (Mum would have gone to McDonald's :-)), Ethan had a great day.

Mum enjoyed the Leggo photos so much... she insisted the family head back to see the rest of the Leggo exhibition at Sydney Aquarium. The Leggo shark did not disappoint.

Ethan is now in training with his Leggo designing, he know what he wants to do when he grows up!
Last but not least, Ethan brought in the New Year (well the 9pm New Year) watching the fireworks in Manly. They never disappoint, some may say Sydney have the best as they watch on TV but we could see and hear them over the hill and OURS lasted a good 5 minutes longer, Manly fireworks rock!
Happy New Year everyone and all the best for 2011!
