Thirty Fourth Month

By Ethan's Thirty Fourth Month you must have started to wonder what happened to his blog entry for his thirty third month??? Well Ethan has been off travelling for the 3 weeks between these last two months and he has been working on a special edition of his blog for the holiday but he did not want you to miss out on the everyday stuff that he has been up to while still in Australia. So here is your monthly update but keep your 'eye open' (as Ethan often says) for the Holiday edition.

Ethan certainly has grown over the last four months, he has sprouted more than 2 inches since we last checked and is now just over 3ft 2in (98cm). Must have been all that Holiday food (steamies, poutine, beavertails...). You can see how he measured up against his giraffe this morning above.

In these last few months it has been summer in Australia and of course summer means summer sports! Ethan spent a lovely afternoon with a bunch of his friends from his 'old' school playing a game of cricket (that English Imperialist game that takes five days to play and can still end in a draw). I think Daddy may have been heard to say "more like herding cats than a game of cricket..." but still fun was had by all and Ethan was very happy to see his ABC friends again. Here he is up at bat, was that a home run or a strike? I think Mummy is talking baseball again, her cricket lingo is even worse than Ethan's...

More summer sport... before our friend Suzie moved from her lovely home, we made an afternoon trip to Vaucluse so that she could give Ethan his first tennis lesson on their very own private court followed by a swim in their horizon pool. .After which we had a yummy lunch on the deck, Ethan explored (and danced ?) through her house while insisting he was not tired but finally fell asleep in the car before we left the end of her street.Ethan is settling into his new school very well. Even with the holiday break, he was happy to get back. He said to Mummy on the Tuesday morning before returning "I have to go to school today or my friends will miss me". Last Friday they had a BBQ at his school for all of the kids and parents to meet. There was a 'bop till you drop' dance party for the kids and for parents to watch and enjoy. Mum and Dad were amazed at their little guy partying, singing and dancing away (can you pick him out at the right of the photo?).But were most impressed when he put his hand up and volunteered to go up to the microphone. They wondered if he even knew what he was volunteering for when he put his hand up but there was no doubt he knew exactly what he was doing when he started singing to one of his favorites songs 'I like to move it move it' or 'I like to movie movie' as Ethan believes the song actually goes. He must have inherited his Dads knack for lyrics and his Mums love of Karaoke!

Ethan is now getting to that age where he does not believe he needs an afternoon nap anymore but he is not actually ready to stay awake the entire day (neither are Mummy and Daddy...). So, Mum and Dad are doing their best to help him settle or accommodate a full day without sleep by encouraging 'down time' instead where Ethan goes to his room and plays quietly for a bit. Here is a shot of one of Ethan's 'down time' plays, do you think he is ready to go without a nap???
