DECEMBER
It is December and once again, Santa is coming to town!!! Ethan is not so sure about posing with Santa these days but eventually relented and gave in to Mum's pleads for the annual Santa photo shoot.
It is the end of the school year in Australia, an exciting but also sad time of year. Yes it is summer and Christmas, 6 weeks of fun to come but Ethan has said Good-Bye to his 1J class with a final show and dance for us all. Good-Bye as well to Mrs Johnson-Read who was "always fair" to quote Ethan.
Ethan has no travel plans over the holidays, he plans to enjoy Manly, where he lives and the rest of the world come on holiday... He did go camping with some family friends on Boxing day but other than that, he plans for lots of play dates with friends and as much iPod time as his Mum and Dad will allow...

NOVEMBER
In November Ethan won the weekly man of the match with Aaron for his Futsal team the 'Zombies'. Games are getting tougher for the Zombies but Ethan is still loving his Friday night games. Even though they have changed last years 'Pizza Eater' team name, they still love going for Pizza afterwards.
In Ethan's 2nd year of nippers (under 8's) he is now allowed to compete in Carnivals. In November Manly Surf Club held their carnival and Ethan took part. Loads of clubs came to Manly for the day to compete and conditions were terrible, it was pouring rain and cold. Ethan did all the events (Wades/team wades/sprints/relays & flags) and just LOVED it. He did OK, didn't win anything but just loved being part of the Manly club! Looks like the Q family could be spending more time at Nipper Carnivals around Sydney through the summer time.
Ethan also made his first visit to the Sydney wax museum this month and met some very important people...

OCTOBER
October saw the end of Ethans European holiday with a 3 night stop in Hong Kong. He got to spend some time with Uncle Jules, Auntie Jackie, cousin Kira and meet his cousin Zya for the first time. Hong Kong was a great finish to a fantastic Holiday and now Ethan wants to do it all again next year!!!
Back to reality in Manly, Ethan started up term 4 at school, passed his swim proficiency test for this years Nippers, played his first Futsal match with the renamed 'Pizza Eaters' now known as the 'Zombies', went to Star city to see Ricky Martin live (the only person ever to fall asleep at a Ricky Martin concert we think...) and of course went Halloween Trick or Treating.

SEPTEMBER

Well September was Fathers day so Ethan did treat his Dad to a nice dinner. He also went to school for a few days and was in this class photo... but mostly September was about Ethan's first Trip to Europe!

AUGUST
In August the Soccer season finished and Ethan was given an award as the 'Most Versatile Player' on the Mighty Bears team. He had a great season and might even have a months break... before summer soccer (aka Futsal) begins.

JULY
July was another busy month, school holidays (yes... again...) so lots of outings planned. Ethan tried Laser tag for the first time, lost to his parent of course but sure had a good time teaming up with bestie Tristan.

JUNE
Ethan has written his own blog in June, well almost. A school assignment was to bring Bella the possum home for a week and write a journal entry about her visit. Mum and Dad think he did a pretty good job of summing up the Month (hope you can read it).
Ethan continued with his guitar playing, practicing with his best buddy Tristan and plans for a band are in the makes it seems... watch this space. Finally, Ethan got up the courage to join his school chess club and he loved it. He was so worried but won his first game so plans to go back every Thursday morning now.

MAY
May is a very special month for Ethan because May 3rd is his Birthday. Ethan turned 7 this year and to celebrate his (and his Mum's) Birthday, the Q family had a professional photo taken.

Mothers day falls in May and Ethan celebrated with his Mum by doing the annual Mothers Day classic run with her.
Ethan also took up guitar lessons this month, he loves the lessons, practicing... not so much but hopefully he will keep it up!

APRIL
In April Ethan 'hit the road' with Ma and Pa for the school holidays. The Q's flew up and met them in Cairns, hired a car then travelled through Port Douglas, Cooktown, Cape Tribulation then finished off on Hamilton Island for a few days relaxing after all that driving around!

MARCH
Look who arrived from Canada to visit Ethan in March 2013 - Ma & Pa! Ethan was a little stressed at being late for school after a 3 hour trip to the airport to pick them up (BAD traffic) but it sure was nice to have them arrive for a nice long visit.
Ethan kept Ma and Pa busy, he invited Christie, Eiko & Jade to Manly for the day and took us all on a guided walk from Fairlight to the Spit Bridge (10km). Then took them to the Blue Mountains for Easter Weekend before they went off on their own for a few week to explore more of Australia.
Getting back into the school year, Ethan went to his class beach carnival and made is first attempt at sailing with friend Wilhem from school - I think this could be a fun school year ;-)

FEBRUARY
February was a quiet month for Ethan. Back to school to start off year 1 with a new teacher and new classmates at Manly Village school. Ethan's teacher this year is Mrs Johnson-Read and his old friends; Lachie, Sam and Wilhem are in his class again this year (and some girls but who cares about the girls???). Ethan just loves getting back into the school routine again and getting up early - see above - NOT! There are some definite perks going to school in Manly though (see below)...
Nippers and Futsal continue keeping the weekend fun (weather permitting). The 'Pizza Eaters' played a great game in the season semi finals to make it to the final game an hour later. Unfortunately they came 2nd in the finals against the Hunters but we are still very proud of our Pizza Eating boys in their first season of playing Futsal.

January is always a fun and busy month for Ethan with it being the school holidays. Ethan enjoyed lots of day trips, stuff he has done many times before as well as new stuff (ice skating and horse back riding). There was lots of time with Mum and Dad (Ethan's first trip to Canberra - Capital of Australia) as well as quality friend time.
